Summary for the August RCMG Board of Directors Retreat
The RCMG Board of Directors Retreat was held on August 11, 2026, in person.
The RCMG 501 (c) (3) nonprofit Board discussed the impending fall elections for new officers as well as changes to the bylaws as the governance roles of the nonprofit and program leadership are clarified at the direction of U of M Extension.
Members will be electing three people to the nonprofit Board for 2027-2028 as well as approving the necessary bylaws changes. Hard copies of the revisions to the bylaws will be available at the September monthly membership meeting. Members of the RCMG 501 (c) (3) include all active volunteers who have completed their internship requirements for the State Master Gardener Program in Ramsey County.
The other major topic discussed was how to determine the size of the grant we will make to Extension to cover the program costs for the Ramsey County Garden Education Volunteer program in 2027. In the future, all program purchases will be handled by the University’s systems, but the nonprofit will continue to fundraise in support of our volunteer activities. The amount of the grant will be finalized this fall after additional financial information is available.
Updated 2026 Board Leadership: Beth Fritcher (Chair), Maggie Maggio (Vice-Chair), Laurel Watt (Secretary), Kathy Passe (Interim Treasurer), Julie Bechtold (Finance Chair)
