March 09, 2021 RCMG Board of Directors Meeting
The March Board Meeting was held on Tuesday (3/9/2021) via Zoom. The next Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 6-8pm. These meetings are open to all volunteers.
Plant Sale Committee
Cheryl Brady reported on the activities of her Plant Sale Committee, which have been many! They scored a great location for the event, Holy Childhood Church on Midway Parkway in St. Paul (between Como Park and the State Fairgrounds). The online sale still needs final approval from the University, which Darren and the committee are pursuing. Once approved the sale will go “live” on May 1st and curbside COVID-approved pickup will take place on May 15th. Stay tuned!
Education Committees
The committee continues to recruit speakers for our monthly meetings and have some excellent presentations planned for our membership. The survey of members who would be willing to offer “mini-courses” to the entire group will be launched shortly.
New Membership / Mentor Committee Report
Our New Member Co-Chairs are keeping in touch with interns and the mentor teams. Most interns are on their way toward completing the Core Course. A few that are lagging behind will be contacted to see what assistance they may need. An Intern Job Fair will be held (remotely) on March 22nd and is open to all members. The focus will be on projects that are currently open under COVID restrictions.
Communications Committee
Lots is happening in the department of publicity and communications! The new website work is continuing, and the site will be ready for online Plant Sale orders. The committee is researching new options for spreading the word about our organization through social media.
Strategic Plan / Task Force Work
Volunteers are being recruited through Sign-Up Genius to serve on short-term Strategic Planning Task Forces. Many slots have been filled but a few remain open. Please consider sharing your ideas on one of these committees. The action plans generated from this work will lead our organization through the next three years.
Program Coordinator Update
Darren reported that our Ramsey County MG program was the only county in the State which reported an increase in contacts during 2020, largely due to our online Speakers Bureau classes. In just the first three months of 2021 over 1,000 contacts were tallied! Kudos to Brianna Gohde and other volunteers who developed and who teach our online classes!
