There are things we can all do to make RCMG even better
As we ease into the summer of 2022 many of the RCMG projects and programming are well underway. I have been continuously impressed by the professionalism and quality of work of our Ramsey County Master Gardener Volunteers. Thank you for all that you do!
As I extend this compliment, I recognize that there are things we can all do to make RCMG even better.
Check out the Core Course Module
In the last module of the 2022 Core Course focuses on the topic of Engaging Your Community. It discusses ways of serving as a University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener volunteer. This module highlights the basics of community engagement, volunteer projects and programs, program resources and policies and procedures. If you haven't completed this module yet, as an intern OR as a returning Master Gardener volunteer, I strongly encourage you to do so. It's well worth the time.
All volunteers have access to the Community Engagement resources available on the State Volunteer website. Be sure to check them out to see if you can use them with your projects.
Master Gardener Recognition
One part of the module focuses on branding and promoting the Master Gardener Volunteer Program. As we continue to volunteer with projects and programs throughout Ramsey County, I want to remind you to tell people who you are and the program you’re connected to. You can use Master Gardener Volunteer Program promotional materials such as clothing, display signs, templates, and more!
When you’re volunteering as a Ramsey County Master Gardener Volunteer, it’s helpful to be noticed and identified as one! Wearing your name tag or basic maroon clothing helps to establish the connection to the University of Minnesota Extension and Master Gardener Volunteer Program. If you are interested in ordering branding clothing check out the following link. When you wear Master Gardener branded apparel, it identifies the important work we do and demonstrates our presence in communities across Minnesota!
The Communications and Marketing Team have been doing a great job of brand recognition as we continue to develop education materials, signage, and promotional materials.
COVID-19 Safety Update
The current COVID-19 Community level is LOW. That said, we will continue to encourage all volunteers to wear a face cover or mask when participating in in-person and indoor activities regardless of vaccination status. The main page of the State Master Gardener website (z.umn.edu/mgweb) has some good information and updates on COVID-19 as well as low-contact, work-from-home volunteer opportunities.
Thank you to all of the volunteers involved with these efforts!
