Summary

April 12, 2022 RCMG Board of Directors Meeting The April Board Meeting was held on 4/12/2022 via Zoom. The next board meeting is scheduled for May 10, 2022 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. These meetings are open to all volunteers.

Special Updates

Arts Us Project Funding Request

Ed Shinbach requested funding for the Arts Us Project at Dunning Recreation Center in St. Paul to support curriculum development and an upgrade of the gardens. This is project has great potential for the RCMG Volunteer Program because of its focus on diverse students in grades 1-5.


RCMG Policy Manual

Chris Strong and Sandy McDonald have been rewriting the RCMG Policy Manual with attention to audience (interns in particular), accuracy, and relevance.


Committee Updates

Education Committee Update

Sue Ellen Campbell reported that Tomato Nursery Tours continue through April 29th, the SignUp Genius has been released for spring Garden Gate Tours, and the April 19th RCMG meeting speaker is Laura Van Riper (DNR) on Jumping Worms.


New Member Committee Update

Judie Ginter reported high participation for the online Volunteer Fair on March 22nd, good progress for interns in the Core Course, and that all six Mentor/Intern teams are developing projects.


Communications Committee Update

The Communication Committee has been extremely productive. Nanette Boudreau together with new Co-Chair Stacy Sola shared their efforts to promote the visibility of the RCMG Volunteer Program including plant sale publicity, featuring existing projects on the website, and handouts and signage for new projects.


Plant Sale Committee Update

There was no report from the Plant Sale Committee.

Treasurer Update

Kathy Passe, our Interim Treasurer, presented the March Monthly Transaction Report, which was approved.


Program Coordinator Update

Darren introduced new training and information sessions, including one on Reporting Volunteer and Continuing Education Hours at 6:00 p.m. on April 19th. Planning is underway for event season, and he is developing an event tracking form for reporting and evaluating events. Several improvements are scheduled for the Barn Gardens this season.


Board Chair Update

The April meeting will include an awards ceremony; awards from the State Program will be sent to recipients. There will be no May meeting as we expect members to be busily involved with the Plant Sale. The June meeting will be held both in person at the Roseville Skating Center and online. Expect to sign up if you wish to attend in person as there are space limitations.
